Regarding the smell near Wilson and Rollins Road

Lake County Public Works (LCPW) is performing final phase work on the County owned, 42”
sanitary sewers located near the Wilson Road and Rollins Road intersection. This project is to
reline existing pipes which transport sanitary flow to the Fox Lake Water Treatment Facility. This
project is not being conducted by, or on behalf of, the Village of Round Lake Beach.

This project started on June 17, 2024, and may last up to 3 weeks. The current completion date
is July 9, 2024. However, the work is weather dependent which could extend the duration of
work. During the work, sanitary flow will be diverted to the sanitary district ponds located off
Sunset Drive in Round Lake Beach. During periods of dry weather, the ponds will release an
unpleasant odor. LCPW is taking the following steps to minimize the odor: LCPW is diluting the
flow coming into the basins, chemically treating the diverted flow, and utilizing odor sanitizer in
the area. They are monitoring the odor and adjusting as much as they are able. However, it
should not be expected that these steps will be always effective.
